  Follow 1 workshop

There has been a lot of thinking since our first work shop. I'm really trying to get familiar with new technical things and terminology. I've never used BLOG or WiKi in my life, let alone created my own... In the mean time I'm trying to read something about the subject and relate it to my own experience... So far I discovered that technology would actually be very useful for me, particularly while I was teaching in Russia. For my students (particularly for those from small towns) computer-originated activities would be the only opportunity to come across with authentic materials (if I only knew how to use them myself!!!). The other thing is that it takes time - to learn technical nuances - for both teachers and students. My questions are:
  • Do students have prior computer/technical knowledge?
  • Who teaches them that if they don't? (Do teachers take precious academic time and explain technical stuff during the lesson or they need to ask school authorities to find another time/teacher for that?)

Comments:
Natalia, No doubt we will all enjoy the journey into blogosphere.

Congratulations Natalia - you made a successful link from your wiki page to your blog here! Now how about posting some thoughts and reflections here, so that it's not just an empty page to the world? :-)

Trying .... :-) Thanks for reminding Debra. I'm now more panicked than last week....

Hi Natalia,
I think that when it comes to teaching technology all pieces of information are very valuable. I think that students should first be
acquainted with the program (teacher's job), given a print out of clear instructions on how to use the programm and what they are required to do.Only then, after their "technical anxiety" or phobia is lowered, they can start a free-style technological swim.
Julie
PS Any chance to remind me how you post your reflective reading? I have fixed my comp - $140.00. At least it words now, and I can cut and paste some of my reflective readings. Julie
